The Ravenna Varsity Girls Track team competed at the Division 3 Regional 26 on Friday, May 20 in Kent City. The girls ended the evening in a tie for 6th place with Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian at 43 points. Hopkins (154 points) won the girlâs event. The following girls scored and received medals for the Bulldogs.
Sabrina Bawcumâ¦5th â High Jump; Jordan Moreyâ¦6th â Pole Vault; Sidney Linck, Hannah Erffmeyer, Ella Mabrito and Mychala Spoelmanâ¦4th â 4×800 relay; Summer Eckhardtâ¦8th â 100 meters; Mychala Spoelmanâ¦5th â 1600 meters; Sidney Linckâ¦5th and Kendall Parkerâ¦6th â 400 meters; Kendall Parkerâ¦6th â 200 meters; Megan Olthofâ¦1st â 300 hurdles; and Kendall Parker, Sidney Linck, Ella Mabrito and Mychala Spoelmanâ¦3rd â 4×400 relay.
The 4×800 relay team and Megan Olthof (300 hurdles) qualified to compete in the Division 3 State Meet on June 4th at Comstock Park. The relay team is scheduled to compete around 10am and Megan sometime after 1:00pm. The 4×400 relay team missed qualifying based on time by just over a second as did Mychala Spoelman in the 1600 meter run.
The next event for the girls is the West Michigan Meijer All Star Track Meet. The All Star meet will take place at Reeths-Puffer on Wednesday, May 25th. Field events are scheduled to start at 3:30pm, the 4×800 relay at 5:30pm and the Finals Races at 6:30pm. Ravenna will be represented by the following girls:
Pole Vault — Jordan Morey
High Jump — Sabrina Bawcum
4×800 Relay — Sidney Linck, Hannah Erffmeyer, Ella Mabrito and Mychala Spoelman
1600 meters — Mychala Spoelman
300 hurdles — Megan Olthof
4×400 relay — Kendall Parker, Sidney Linck, Ella Mabrito and Mychala Spoelman
Mychala Spoelman (800 meters) and Megan Olthof (pole vault) also met the qualifying standards for the event but have chosen to focus on their other events. Hannah Erffmeyer missed automatically qualifying in the 3200 meter run by less than 2 seconds and is waiting to see if a spot opens up for her to compete.
